About our community
The Australian Burmese Rohingya Association (ABRA) is dedicated to supporting the Rohingya and Burmese community across Sydney and nationwide. We walk alongside individuals and families as they settle, connect, and build bright futures in Australia.
Our purpose and heart
ABRA was established with a clear mission: to advocate for and empower Burmese and Rohingya community members both in Australia and overseas. Leaving home behind is never easy, which is why we provide a warm, welcoming network to help newly arrived families find stability, establish goals, and feel a deep sense of belonging in their new home.
Empowering pathways and milestones
From assisting community members with driver licences, housing, and job hunting to facilitating vocational training, our support makes a tangible difference. One of our proudest milestones has been helping newly arrived migrants enrol in TAFE courses, unlocking educational opportunities that were previously out of reach.
Uniting families through events
Through social gatherings, sporting matches, and holiday programs for children, we create spaces where no one feels isolated. Our events provide children with a joyful environment to learn, build friendships, and celebrate their cultural heritage together with the wider Australian community.
